Consumer democracy

A consumer democracy is made up consumers and not citizens. People vote with their money. Government “services” are exchanged for votes. This is not a real democracy.

To understand the term better, we advise watching Adam Curtis’ brilliant BBC documentary, The Century of the Self (2002.)
